Students are immersed in the practice of a growth mindset: the power of believing you can improve. Our school culture motivates students to actively learn, and empowers them to advocate for themselves. Throughout the Middle School experience, students are provided with the opportunity to challenge themselves, to develop independence, and prepare for high school.

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.1 Beth Emet Middle School implements an integrated SEL program to teach students so they are able to gain the most out of each of the five competencies laid out by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emonial Learning (CASEL) organization.

These include self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. It is our goal to have our students develop a healthy sense of the five competencies. With daily implementation, students learn to reduce stress and optimize the learning capacity of their brain. They also learn about the science behind these brain functions, in order to truly put into practice strategies that will help them throughout their lives.
